Working as a freelance creative is very different from having an employer. Working on a freelance basis means you work for someone else, under contract, for a designated or ongoing time period. Freelancers sell their skills and time by the hour or by a contracted project price.

Being A Freelance Creative Means:

sunny flexible work hours, but dedication to your routine
sunny decisionmaking power
stormy insurance (health, disability, homeowners) is your responsibility
sunny working from client or home office
sunny control over your working life regarding hours, variety of work etc.
stormy no guaranteed incoming work, possibly some quiet periods
sunny potential to earn more
sunny professional freedom and independence
stormy can be lonely, particularly if you are home-based
stormy increased responsibility to succeed
